John proposed to me in June of 2004 and we were married on August 27, 2005 in Lawrence, Kansas (home of the Jayhawks!). For those of you that don't know, John was an AVID KU fan. This always made for interesting family gatherings since Renee, Jason (my brother-in-law), my parents, and I all went to K-State. My oldest sister, Robin, and her husband, Steve, went to MU, so needless to say, there was always some type of friendly rivalry occurring between the boys.
We had a beautiful summer wedding and were so blessed to be surrounded by our amazing family and friends. I knew in my heart that I would spend the rest of my life with this man that was so perfect for me. He had so many wonderful qualities that I valued: he was funny, loving, smart, driven, honest, had great character, and wanted to be a daddy more than anything.
We were so excited to start our lives together...
