Change is Inevitable

As you can image, we had TONS of change all at once.  We went from having part-time Daddy daycare to hiring a nanny, then sending the kids to daycare, then having two nannies which traded days off.

The one thing that remained constant throughout this was my job.  I continued to work at CenturyLink after taking several months off which was a decision all in itself.  I was contemplating on whether or not I should return to work and be a stay-at-home mom.  In the end, I thought it would probably be best if I kept working.

The kids did well with everything considering the circumstances.  I tried to do everything exactly the way that John and I did things.  This meant taking the kids to their favorite places to eat, doing the same activities, etc.  This was definitely challenging at times but we got through it.

The toughest part was when Brecken asked me about his Daddy.  Here are some of the things he said (you can tell as he got older by the things he said):
  • "Da da, where are you?  Da da, come home to Brecken's house."
  • "Daddy's gone....oh man."
  •  "My Dad's in Heaven now.  My Dad saved an elephant, cat, crocodile, and lion.  Yeah, he saved lots of animals."
  •  He told his teacher, Ms. M, that his Daddy was flying up in the sky with the Angels and he was having so much fun.
  •  "Daddy, get out of that picture right now.  My want to show you something."
  •  "Mom, my daddy was back last night."  Me:  "He was, what was he doing?"  Breck:  "He was giving me hugs and kisses.  Yeah, he was in Heaven."
  •  "I want daddy to come down from Heaven."
Despite all of this, we had tons of help from everyone.  The firefighters mowed our yard and helped with things around the house.  They even put together a new swingset that our families bought for us!  We had more food than we knew what to do with.  My sorority sisters, my friends and family, and the firefighters were amazing.  I truly am so blessed to have the best friends a girl could ask for!
