I took Emma into urgent care last Saturday afternoon because she had a 103 fever. Poor girl. Her flu test came back negative but they went ahead and treated her for influenza because she had all the signs of it and one of her classmates had just been diagnosed with it as well. You know how that goes...one kiddo gets it and the whole class follows.
If you've ever tried to find Tamiflu in the prime of flu season, late on a Saturday night, good luck! After three pharmacies, we finally got the "liquid gold" and headed home. One of the nasty side effects for kiddos is that they potentially might throw up after they take the medicine. So, sure enough, I finally get Emma to take the horrible tasting medicine and about ten seconds later, she threw up everywhere. I love flu season.
I made her a nice snuggly bed on my floor in case she got sick anymore and went to work cleaning up the mess in the kitchen.
We had a rough few days with her and then on Monday afternoon, I started feeling sick too. Don't you wish you were at our house during all of this? Luckily, mine only lasted until Thursday and then I was back to work but Emma ended up staying home until Friday. She was doing great except for the lingering cough that can last for awhile. She coughed so hard on Saturday night that she threw up everywhere...again. Poor girl and poor mama. Did I mention that I love flu season? Back to more laundry for me and making another bed on my floor for this little gal.
Thankfully, Brecken never got any of it (I'm knocking on wood right now) and all of us are back to normal now. Yay! Going through all of this sure makes you appreciate how we can take our health for granted. It's definitely easy to do when we're healthy all the time but boy, I do not miss weeks like this! I hope I don't see anymore throw up for a long time...ok, EVER!
